Several members of the Barton County Community College baseball team are pushing midnight back as far as possible with the Park City Cowboys at the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita. Park City, a last minute addition to the tournament as a replacement for a team that could not attend, has worked it’s way into the final 12 teams playing with a 4-1 record. Among the members of the Cowboys are current Cougars Brent Biggs, Frank Zenisek, Luke Kramer, and Brian Dorsey as well as former Cougars Mark Stoltz.

Several members of the Barton County Community College baseball team are pushing midnight back as far as possible with the Park City Cowboys at the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita. Park City, a last minute addition to the tournament as a replacement for a team that could not attend, has worked it's way into the final 12 teams playing with a 4-1 record. Among the members of the Cowboys are current Cougars Brent Biggs, Frank Zenisek, Luke Kramer, and Brian Dorsey as well as former Cougars Mark Stoltz.
Biggs has been instrumental in the Cowboys success, starting every game at 2nd base. Zenisek stepped up with a big-time effort on the mound Tuesday afternoon in his 1st start to propel the Cowboys to the 6th round of the elimination bracket and into the final 12 where they will face Nevada (Mo.) in a prime time slot Wednesday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
Biggs has been one of the top hitters for the Cowboys from his No. 9 spot in the order. The Great Bend High graduate and sophomore at Barton County is hitting .471 – 8-for-17 – during the 5 games with 2 runs scored and 4 runs batted in. He is 6-for-9 in last 3 games and was key in the elimination round win over Dodge City Sunday night by doing 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the 8th to Dodge City, Biggs connected on a 1-out bases loaded double to cut the Dodge City lead to 4-3. He scored the winning run later in the inning with 2 outs on a double as the Cowboys won 5-4 with the 4-run 8th.
Zenisek came up big in the most recent win for the Cowboys as the Barton sophomore tossed a 2-hit baseball for 7 innings as Park City won 2-1 over Seguin (Texas) in the 5th round of the elimination bracket. Zenisek allowed just a 1st inning unearned run before pitching 6 consecutive scoreless innings. After a 1st inning single, Zenisek didn't allow another hit until the 6th inning. He finished with 5 strikeouts and 3 walks.
Stoltz, a 2004 graduate of Barton County, is having a good tournament as well. He is currently 5-for-17 for a .294 average with 3 runs scored. Kramer has also seen time, pitching 2 2/3 innings of relief in the team's only loss, allowing a pair of runs and striking out one.
