Grizzly pitching shuts down Barton for game two victory
For the second straight game on Friday the Butler Community College pitching staff stymied the bats of the Barton Community College baseball team in winning 7-1 in Jayhawk Conference play at El Dorado’s McDonald Stadium. Barton drops to 12-18 on the season and 6-12 in conference play while Butler improves to 12-10 and 8-6.
Alex King led off the game with a single to right field setting the stage for a Aaron Gile sacrifice fly to give the Cougars their lone run on the day.
Butler's Brandon Taylor settled in after the first and was masterful on the mound improving to 2-0 on the season striking out ten and allowing only one hit in six innings of work.
Butler gave Taylor all the runs he needed scoring one in the first and two in the second to bulid a 3-0 lead. The Grizzlies put the game away in the fifth scoring three runs followed by an insurance run in the seventh.
Skylar Hill took the loss for the Cougars working 6.2 innings giving up eleven hits and five earned runs to drop to 1-1 on the season.
