Barton baseball opens ’14 season, go 1-3 in Texas

The Barton Community College baseball team opened its 2014 season this past weekend in Texas, dropping both games on Saturday and splitting a doubleheader on Sunday. Barton began the season on Saturday in Snyder, Texas, going 0-2 against Western Texas College. Barton’s rally in the first game came up on the short end of a 2-1 decision then was shut out in game two 3-0. After making the short trip to Odessa, the Cougars split Sunday’s games at Odessa College. Barton took game one 6-2 to get its first victory of the season had a disastrous second game in losing 13-2. The Cougars will have its home opener this weekend as Barton host the Western Nebraska Community College Cougars in two days of doubleheader action. First pitch of each day’s doubleheader is 1:00 p.m. at Lawson-Biggs Field.
