Warren wins 900th, Barton Baseball sweeps non-conference doubleheader

It was a memorable Wednesday at Lawson-Biggs Field as the Barton Community College baseball team scored fourteen runs in one inning and picked up a pair of non-conference victories over the junior varsity of Kansas Wesleyan University to earn Head Coach Mike Warren his 900th win at the Barton helm. The Cougars trailed by two in the fourth inning of game one before exploding for fourteen runs to earn a 20-10 run-rule win. Barton kept the fourteen theme into game two scoring fourteen more runs in the first two innings for another five inning shortened 16-3 win. Barton improved to 28-23-1 on the season while dropping the KWU JV to 4-6. Barton will wrap up the regular season and have its last home games of the season this weekend as Pratt Community College comes to Lawson-Biggs Field for a four game series. Barton sits in seventh place in the Jayhawk West at 11-17 with the Beavers in ninth at 7-21 in conference play and 20-30 overall. The teams will play a 6:00 p.m. nine inning game Friday to begin the series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m. The series will conclude with a single nine inning contest on Sunday with first pitch slated for 1:00 p.m.
