The losing skid has stopped at one for the Barton County Community College men's basketball team. Although it didn't look that way for a while for the No. 9 ranked Cougars. Barton County trailed much of its Jayhawk West contest against Pratt Wednesday night before pulling out a 52-50 win over the Beavers at the Barton County Gym.
The win move Barton County to 14-2 overall this season and 1-1 in the Jayhawk West. Pratt is now 3-12 overall and 0-1.
Highlights
Barton led 2-0, then did not lead again until a Justin Rose 3-pointer with five minutes to play in the contest. After the trey, Barton never did trail again, but the Cougars did not put the Beavers away either.
Barton County had a chance to put the Beavers away in the final minute, but a turnover allowed the Beavers one more shot at the win. After Robert Whaley blocked a shot to tie the contest, Pratt inbounded the ball 5 seconds to play and got off a 25-foot 3-pointer, which bounded off the rim long and gave the Cougars their first West win of the season.
Freshman Rodney Epperson led the Cougars with 18 points, followed by Whaley with 12 and Rose with 10. Whaley also added 7 rebounds. Pratt was led by Tony Bennett with 17 and Robert Robinson with 15.

The Cougars are back on the road to take on Garden City Saturday. The West contest will tip off at 8 p.m. The Cougars will play host to Colby Monday at 8 p.m.
