The Barton County Community College men's basketball team made it four wins in a row in the Jayhawk West - two of those on the road - with a 76-57 win over Butler County in El Dorado Saturday night.
Barton County, ranked No. 8 in the country, is now 17-2 overall and 4-1 in the Jayhawk West. Butler County falls to 12-7 and 2-3.
Highlights
Barton County trailed 2-0, then never trailed again. Robert Whaley jumped-started the Cougars offense, hitting his first five shots from the floor and four shots from the free throw line as Barton bolted out to a 14-5 lead behind 12 points from Whaley. The Cougars pushed that lead to 39-23 at the intermission as Barton connected on 15-of-29 shots in the opening half. Butler County struggled from the field in opening half, hitting just 7-of-27 efforts.
The Cougars maintained the double-digit lead throughout the second half. The closest Butler County could get was 11 points. Whaley ended the night with 24 points. Randy Pulley added 15 and Justin Rose 14 for the Cougars.
The win marked the 100th in the coaching career of Ryan Wolf, who is in his fourth year at the helm of the Cougar program. Coach Wolf is now 100-23.

The Cougars will look for their third straight road win in the Jayhawk Conference when they travel to Hutchinson to play the Blue Dragons Wednesday. Both teams are 4-1 in the West and tied for second behind 5-1 Seward County.
