The Barton Community College track and field team recorded a combined forty-four All-American performances recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The awards are earned finishing among the top eight in their events, including as a member of a relay team, accomplished at the 2017 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships held May 18-20 in Hutchinson, Kansas.
The Barton Community College track and field teams concluded the season bringing home not one, but two national runner-up trophies from the 2017 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Championships held in Hutchinson, Kansas.
The Barton Community College men's track and field team went south to Barton Rouge, Louisiana, for the weekend competing at the LSU Alumni Gold meet Saturday at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium. Competing against multiple athletes amongst the NCAA Top 10, along with decorated professionals and Olympians, the Cougars had multiple personal best efforts while also seeing a school record fall from the top spot.
Coming off an overall best performance of the year a week ago in Texas, the Barton Community College men's track and field team sent a much smaller squad to Wichita this past weekend, placing fifth overall in the annual two day KT Woodman Classic held at Cessna Stadium.
All around it was the best performance of the 2017 season as the Barton Community College men's track and field team put on a show in Canyon, Texas this weekend in capturing the 6th Annual West Texas A&M Classic. Barton won eight events in the two day competition within its twenty-five Top-8 placings against the mostly four-year competition, compiling 176 points to edge host and NCAA Division II No. 17 ranked WTAMU’s 169. The Cougars also had twenty-three performances that exceeded the national qualifying standard with twenty personal best efforts including jumping into the school record book in three events highlighted by the shattering of the discus mark by Ricky Nelson.
The Barton Community College men's track and field team competed this past weekend in Arkansas City at the Cowley College Tiger Invite. The Cougars won three titles amongst their twenty-five top ten placings while recording five national qualifying performances to go along with multiple personal individual bests.
It wasn’t the best of weather weekends for out track and field in Fayetteville, Arkansas, but like the other Arkansas Spring Invitational competitors at John McDonnell Field, the Barton Community College men's track and field team battled through rain and several suspensions coming away with some notable achievements. Placing twenty amongst the top-ten in multiple events, the Cougars captured four individual titles, in addition to, recording two performances falling amongst the best ten performances in school history.
Coming off a third place national finish in the indoor season, the Barton Community College men's track and field team opened the outdoor season with a runner-up placing this past Friday at the ESU Spring Invitational hosted by Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. The Cougars had ten NJCAA national qualifying performances on the Golden Oval of Witten Track inside Welsch Stadium, as Barton would have twenty performances in the Top-10 including four golds competing against sixteen other teams.
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their indoor regional awards recently with the Barton Community College track and field team earning thirty-six All-American awards including three coaching honors. Student-athletes earned USTFCCCA All-America status by virtue of finishing among the top-8 in their events, including as a member of a relay team, at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, while coaching honors were voted and selected by coaches within the USTFCCCA.
The Barton Community College men’s track and field team finished third this past weekend at the Region VI/KJCCC Indoor Championships held at Pittsburg State University's Robert W. Plaster Center. Taking home two individual titles, the Cougars had twenty-seven top-ten finishes including five performances falling in the top ten best efforts in school history.
The Barton Community College men's track and field team headed to Nebraska this past weekend splitting the No. 2 ranked Cougar squad sending one group to Lincoln for the 42nd annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational while a smaller contingent headed across state to Crete for the Fred Beile Classic hosted by Doane College.
Like their women counterparts, the No. 2 ranked Barton Community College men's track and field team had another solid meet on Friday posting fifteen personal best efforts in grabbing a combined eight top three finishes at the Jayhawk Classic hosted by the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.
