Nine new personal bests highlight Barton women track and field results at Tiger Invite
The Barton Community College women's track and field team took another break from a powerhouse meet competing this past Friday at the 12th annual Tiger Invitational hosted by Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas. The Lady Cougars competed against fellow NJCAA members, as well as, colleges and universities from the NAIA ranks. The Lady Cougars posted six national qualifying performances while setting nine new personal best marks.

The Lady Cougars competed against fellow NJCAA members, as well as, colleges and universities from the NAIA ranks. The Lady Cougars posted six national qualifying performances while setting nine new personal best marks.
Vanessa Style recorded a sixth best national time in the 100m Dash leading three Lady Cougar entries with a second place 11.87 in her only event on Friday. Also competing in her only event of the day, Tamara Style also posted a national qualifying time finishing fifth in recording a nation's 12th best time of 12.07.
Widline Lageroy led the 200m Dash contingent with a third place personal best time of 25.43. Danashka Lawrence recorded two personal best times during the day, recording a 12.63 in the 100m in finishing 12th then placing seventh in the 200m at 25.91.
In the 800m Julee McAtee just missed a new personal best by .19 seconds at 2:42.41 edging out teammate Trenna Cox for 19th place who finished in 2:43.90.
No surprise in the 1500m as standout Lydia Mato won the race coasting to a national qualifying 4:54.06 time which is tops in the nation. Coming in 9th and 10th were teammates Holly Pierce and Kaitlynn Tuey as both freshman set personal best times. Pierce exceeded her best by nearly seven seconds crossing the line in 5:25.20, just a photo finish ahead of Tuey's 5:25.63.
Tasha Frazier competed in two events finishing fourth in the 100m Hurdles while taking the crown in the Triple Jump. Setting a new personal best and national qualifying marks in both events, Frazier clocked a 14.78 time in the hurdles for 12th best in the nation while her 11.94m (39-02.25) leap in the triple jump ranks sixth best. Also ranking in the top ten hitting a personal best and national mark was sophomore N'Kia Jones who exceeded her top mark by .34 meters to finish third at 11.65m (38-02.75) for an eighth best national mark.
Two sport athlete Bethany Bowman competed in her first outdoor meet of the season finishing fourth in the high jump at 1.56m.
In the throws Chyenne Riggs continued her improvement exceeding her personal best in the Shot Put placing eighth with a heave of 10.80m while Elizabeth Evans' 39.10m was good for fifth place in the Discus.
The Lady Cougars return to action on Friday as Barton will compete in the two-day K.T. Woodman Classic held in Wichita, Kansas.
