Goncalves repeats 1st team, leads four post season awards for Barton Volleyball #GoBarton

Repeating her first team selection was setter Carolina Goncalves who wrapped up her Barton career tenth all-time in the storied history of the program. Despite the Cougars running a 6-2 offense for a portion on the season, the Brislia, Brazil, native still recorded 844 assists on the year to average 7.47 per set to rank fourth best in the region. Goncalves also was top ten in the region from the service line recording thirty-eight aces to lead the Cougars while ranking second on the team with 249 digs.
Monique Oliveira also capped her two year Barton campaign with another post season honor, landing on the second team following a first team selection her freshman year. A workhorse for the Cougars, Oliveira led the squad with region seventh best 308 kills and eighth best 365 digs. Hailing from Uberaba, Brazil, Oliveira left her mark in the Barton record books with 674 digs to rank ninth most in school history.
Joining Oliveira on the second team, fellow Brazilian Laine Alves Conceicao healed up from an early season injury to warm up to American volleyball during the conference season putting down a ninth best 2.61 kills per set. Finishing with 208 kills on the season, the Sao Jose Dos Campos native also recorded forty-five blocks and was second on the team to Oliveira in points scored.
Concluding the four selections was sophomore Averie Warehime in earning honorable mention honors. Leading the Cougars with a .213 attack from the middle, the Hudson, Colorado, native provided big value to the team in her blocking. Ranking second on the team overall with 90 blocks, Warehime matched her freshman's season total of eighty-two coming assisted to match the '15-16 career of Olivia Naccarato in ranking sixth best in program history.
